This study reports on a mandatory survey administered to 85 high school students at Riverdale Country School, exploring their reliance on AI for schoolwork and their understanding of institutional policies. The results indicate a low overall dependence on AI, with seniors using it more frequently than underclassmen, and highlight the need for clearer, scenario-based guidelines from educators. The research provides actionable insights for enhancing digital literacy and fostering responsible AI integration in academic settings.

This paper presents the results of a comprehensive survey conducted with 47 high school students from diverse regions and school types, examining their engagement with AI for academic purposes. The findings reveal a near-even split in AI usage and a strong call for incorporating AI literacy into the curriculum.
